About Us

Cotton and Twirls, LLC was founded in 2020 by owner and designer, Mandy Nelson. A former neuroscientist turned stay-at-home-mom, Mandy began her sewing journey at her small Boston apartment kitchen table on a Pfaff Stretch and Jean from the 90's. What was one machine quickly became three, and she soon realized that her love of sewing went beyond the garments themselves. She is a self-taught fabric designer, and the seemingly random and sporadic designs you are gifted are a true reflection of how she is as a person.

When she isn't designing, Mandy loves spending time with her husband and two daughters. She loves raunchy fantasy romance books (recommendations welcome!), watches Harry Potter, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings at least once a month, and loves when her husband tells her how amazing of a cook she is, which occurs almost daily.
