Preorder 101

Pre-order fabrics are limited time fabrics which may or may not be run again. The basis of pre-order is simple: when a round is opened, you order however much you want in any base we offer within the round time-frame. Once the round closes, we send the order to our printer who prints the design onto all of our stunning bases and sends it back to us. We then inspect, cut, pack, and ship it off to you. If we have any extra left over, it is offered as retail later on in the year.

What fabrics do you offer?

We are currently offering Cotton Spandex, Cotton French Terry, Cotton Woven, Cotton Canvas, Bamboo Spandex, Bamboo Cotton French Terry, Brushed French Terry, Brushed Rib*, Athletic Knit, Rayon Challis, Swim, Boardshort, Tencel, Scuba, Softshell, Double Brushed Polyester, and Water Resistant Oxford (WRO). We also have special All-Vinyl rounds. More information about fabric including weight and washing instructions can be found here. We will be adding additional bases to our pre-orders and retail in due course. Please make sure to like our page and join our Facebook community to vote on which bases to add in future rounds.

Please note that fabric coloration can and will vary based on the medium printed on (cotton, bamboo, polyester). We try to present the fabric to you as accurately as possible, but these are digital images printed onto fabric and will never be identical to what you see on your screen. Everything from the viewing platform (phone vs computer, bright vs dim light, warm vs cool tones for display) to how our strike artists take their photos (early morning light vs late afternoon light, cloudy vs sunny) all play a role in how the fabric is presented, so please keep this in mind.

*Brushed Rib is our only print that is printed on an ivory background. Please note that this will slightly affect color.

Do you offer discounts for bulk fabric?

We offer a 10% discount for 10+ yards of the same pattern and base (example: 12 yards of Don't Leaf Me in French Terry). Each item in your cart must be more than 10 yards. You may not combine 10-yard items and items less than 10 yards in the same cart, orders for items less than 10 yards must be placed separately. We will combine shipping if necessary. If you are ordering more than 25 yards total, we will also give you a shipping quote. Please contact us prior to ordering for the 10% discount code at info@cottonandtwirls.com

What is the turn-around-time (TAT) on pre-order and in stock?

Pre-Order fabric: We order from an exceptionally high quality fabric printer and as such, our fabrics take some time to be printed. From the date of submission, please expect between 8-10 weeks for fabric to be printed, 1-2 weeks for fabric to arrive at our headquarters and then an additional 1-2 weeks to be processed and shipped. We inspect all our fabric upon arrival for quality and reprinting if necessary. We will always strive to get you your fabric as quickly as possible, but there are times where the full TAT may occur. If you are a shop owner using our fabric for your products, please do not make any promises to customers without taking all of this into consideration. Refunds will not be given for errors of TAT on your part.

In Stock fabric: Please allow 3-5 business days for shipping.

**DO NOT ORDER IN STOCK FABRIC AND PRE-ORDER IN THE SAME CART, as these are processed and shipped separately. If you order Pre-order and In Stock fabric in the same order, your order will be cancelled**

Can I specify how I want my fabric cut?

Similar to a regular printer, fabric printers can have flaws present throughout the fabric. We inspect all fabric for quality, and oftentimes we end up with smaller cuts of fabric to work with. We will do our best to cut continuously when possible, but please understand that 10 unflawed yards is almost impossible. Please do not request specific cuts. We will never give you half-yard cuts without your permission (unless all you ordered is a half-yard). For example, if you order 3.5 yards, you will not receive 3 yards and a half-yard, but you may receive 2.5 yards and 1 yard.

Do you combine multiple orders?

PRE-ORDERS: shipping can be combined up until the round closes by using the code “ADDMORE” and typing your previous order number into the “notes” section. This code removes the shipping cost from your second order. Please make sure the shipping has been covered in your first order by reviewing shipping brackets. Example: If you place an order for 4 yards and pay the 3 - 7 yards shipping bracket, you may add up to an additional 3 yards in a second order (totals up to 7 yards) and use the code to remove shipping. If you order 4 more yards in a second order, you are now at the next shipping bracket (total yards for both orders is now 8 yards and puts you in the 7.5 - 12 yard shipping bracket). If you use the code in this instance, you will be billed for the difference in shipping. Your fabric will not ship until this difference is paid. Again, to make it easier on us, please include your original order in the “notes” section.

RETAIL: We try to get retail fabrics out as quickly as possible. Therefore, we cannot combine orders for retail. Retail carts do not hold.

Your package will not ship until the additional shipping is paid.

We will always try to ship the cheapest way possible for you, and if we are able to ship it cheaper we will refund the difference. This is especially true with the 2x LFRB-- if we can put your 14 yards in a LFRB and a PFRE, we'll refund overages.

We understand that shipping is expensive and sometimes you want to go in on it with your friends. Help! My package is lost.

Once your fabric leaves our facility and receives a USPS tracking number, we are no longer responsible for your package. If your package status is delivered but you have not received it, please fill out this form on the USPS website. For all orders, $100 shipping insurance is included (as per USPS standard flat rate boxes/envelopes).

Please note that for orders over 3 yards, we do offer additional insurance should you wish to purchase any over the USPS standard of $100. Additional insurance is purchased through Shopify's Shipsurance, and their policy can be reviewed here. To include additional insurance, please choose the shipping option available to you which includes the term "+ Extra Insurance". This extra insurance covers the maximum cost you could possibly pay for each shipping bracket (i.e. covers the loss of 7 yards, 12 yards, and 24 yards, respectively).

Should you have an issue that does not fall within the USPS $100 coverage and you included "+ Extra Insurance" in your shipping option, please contact us for instructions on how to file a Shipsurance claim. If your package is lost and you file a Paypal claim against us without contacting us first, you will immediately be removed from the group and all of your pending orders will be cancelled.

What happens if my fabric arrives flawed?

Digitally printed fabric prints much the same as your paper coming off your printer. Sometimes there are small smudges, sometimes it skips or makes a line. We open and inspect all fabric, but sometimes even we miss something. Some flaws we accept returns for, as long as they are made within 30 days of receipt of fabric and the fabric is uncut and unwashed. Please message us at info@cottonandtwirls.com if you believe your fabric arrived flawed and does not fall under one of the following. You will be asked to provide photographs of said flaws.

Flaws we DO NOT accept returns for are:

  • Flaws made within 5” of the selvage edge

  • Flaws which are smaller than a dime

  • Flaws or printer markings on the underside of the fabric which do not show through

  • Flaws which were made as a result of washing. Please note that slight fading of colors after washing is not considered a flaw.

Can I return my fabric?

Cancellations of pre-orders that have already been submitted to the printer are subject to a 20% cancellation fee.

Returns are accepted for uncut/unwashed fabric within 30 days of receipt of fabric only for one of the following:

  • The fabric is flawed and meets the requirements listed in the “flawed fabric” section above

  • The fabric is less than 36” per yard or 18" per half-yard before washing

  • The fabric that was sent is incorrect

If your fabric falls within the guidelines above, we will ask you to return the fabric to us (we cover shipping). If we are able to replace the fabric we will, otherwise you will be refunded for the returned fabric. Please note that ONLY the qualifying fabric is able to be returned, NOT the entire order.

Does your Cotton French Terry meet CPSC requirements?

It does! I know, so amazing, right? Our Cotton French Terry was tested by an ANAB-accredited US based testing laboratory for Flammability of Wearing Apparel (16 CFR Part 1610) and has passed as a Class I material. If you or your small business require a certificate of compliance to have on file, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

How can I contact you?

If you have any questions about your orders, please email info@cottonandtwirls.com. Please include details if necessary, such as photos of fabric (include rulers next to flaws if possible) and order numbers. You may find round updates on this page which will tell you where each round is in the printing and shipping process, please do not email us for round updates unless the full 14 week TAT has passed.
